Silicon Nitride Ceramics
Silicon Nitride (Si₃N₄) is a high-performance engineering ceramic material that has become an ideal choice for numerous industrial applications, particularly in high-demand fields such as aerospace, automotive, electronics, and medical equipment. This is due to its exceptional mechanical strength, high-temperature resistance, and outstanding chemical corrosion resistance.
Characteristics of Silicon Nitride Ceramics
The flexural strength and hardness of silicon nitride ceramics are exceptionally high, with a Vickers hardness reaching up to 1500 HV.
The melting point of silicon nitride (Si₃N₄) is as high as 1900 °C, allowing it to maintain strength and stability at elevated temperatures.
The thermal expansion coefficient of silicon nitride ceramics is exceptionally low, approximately 2.8 × 10⁻⁶ /°C.
Si₃N₄ ceramics exhibit exceptional resistance to thermal shock and can endure rapid environmental changes, including sudden cooling and heating, without cracking or rupturing due to abrupt temperature fluctuations.
Silicon nitride ceramics exhibit strong resistance to both acid and alkali corrosion, particularly in high-temperature and corrosive gas environments.
